Slawn Hot Air Balloon
A large-scale aerial sculpture that repositions public art beyond the ground plane, using elevation, scale, and movement to occupy the skyline. Designed as both object and spectacle, the work exists simultaneously as a physical structure and a broadcast moment β extending visibility across the city. For a major public activation with Slawn, Nigel VMU designed and realised an 85-foot custom hot air balloon, translating the artistβs character language into a monumental floating form. The piece transformed a graphic icon into a moving landmark, introducing a rare vertical dimension to cultural activation. As it travelled across the skyline, the work generated city-wide attention β drawing crowds, triggering organic documentation, and circulating rapidly across social and press platforms β establishing itself as a high-visibility cultural moment.
